NLA-C Centennial Countdown Alumni Homecoming a Success

The Centennial Countdown Alumni Homecoming Banquet 2019 of NLAC is a success as it was held in the newly-built David & Ruth Pulido Pavilion on the night of March 3, 2019 with almost 500 alumni, friends, visitors and guest attendees. Guest speaker, Dr. Russel del Castillo, NLA Class ’79, elaborated the same theme, “Home Is Where the Heart Is II” which is a sequel of last year’s with Dr. Luz Lapeña-Barayuga, NLA Class ’62, as guest speaker then.

The highlight of the alumni homecoming was the presentation of certificate and appreciation to many deserving alumni and supporters of NLAC including various class and institution/association recognition.

Foremost on the list was the “Posthumous Award” to Dr. Petronilo Jacosalem Barayuga, founding and first president of Northern Luzon Adventist College, which was received by his wife, Dr. Luz Barayuga. Another was the “Certificate of Appreciation” given to the guest speaker of the Alumni banquet, Dr. Russel del Castillo.

The following are “Honorary Membership” awardees namely: Mrs. Shirley Mañez; Eng’r. Benjamin McCash; Eng’r. Sammie & Amihan Pimental; Mr. Samson Sampayan; and Elder Dan Smith.

The giving of “Certificate of Recognition” came in three types namely: (1) individual recognition; (2) various NLA Class recognition; and (3) institution/association recognition. Those who received the individual “Certificate of Recognition” are the following: Dr. Reuben Balinao; Dr. Elmer Bangloy; Mr. Rodney Alden & Mrs. Ma. Cecilia de Gracia-Barayuga; Mr. Ben Basabas; Ms. Gladys Sipus; Mr. Marvin Berto; Ms. Evangeline Sipus; Mr. Leo Castelo; Ms. Evelyn Aguinaldo; Mr. Jun Cocos; Ms. Glady Jean Esteban; Mr. Brigido Esteban; Ms. Minerva Esteban; Ms. Alma Matulac-Lomibao; Ms. Luivina Macaraeg-McCash; Ms. Meljorie Castelo Batoon; Mr. David Rafanan; Mr. Samson & Mrs. Meliadona Macaraeg-Sampayan.

Recognized NLA Class are the following: Class 1952; 1965; 1967; 1968; 1969;1970;1979 in celebration of its 40th anniversary; 1982; and 1994 in celebration of its Silver anniversary.

The association recognition includes the following: Alumni Association of NLA/C-USA; NLAC Academy Class 1999; NLAC Alumni Association, Local Chapter; NLAC Elementary Department Home & School Association (HSA); Northern Luzon Adventist Schools Alumni Association (NLASAA); and Northern Luzon Mission of the Seventh-day Adventists.

Other parts of the homecoming include induction of the college and high school Graduating class officers and graduating students following the presentation of the Class project such as a red carpet for school programs and the college back gate.

The homecoming ended with the president’s report of Pastor Nepthali Mañez about NLAC’s ongoing programs and development. He ended his talk thru his grateful words of “thank you” per se to all alumni supporters and sponsors local and abroad in making NLAC a better place of learning and study for all students either local or national and international.
